Mental Health and the Benefits of Reading

Social Media Awareness Campaign

titled "Read The Benefits"

What Read the Benefits is

About

Message

In a time where mental health in the United States is in a decline, it is important to prioritize activities and other stress relievers that can benefit the mind and body. This campaign serves to address reading as a form of stress relief.

Aim

Often, people who suffer from depression or other mental health afflictions lose interest in things that previously brought them joy. To combat this, the aim is to bring together a community of people to read and enjoy the benefits of the activity.

Audience

This campaign aims to target people of all ages suffering from issues with mental health and/or other stressors who have expressed interest in or currently like to read.

GOALS

short term goals

in the short term, Read the Benefits would bring together a group of people to reap the health benefits of reading. Through a collective reading, such as a virtual book club, the goal would be to lessen feelings of distress and improve mental health, which would be measured through engagements such as surveys and other feedback.

long term goals

in the long term, Read the Benefits would aim to provide books and other literary materials to both kids and young adults in financial need through fundraising purposes. although the possibilities are endless, Read the Benefits could also partner with a local school and/or library to fundraise for a more extensive, updated book collection, as well as one that is more accessible to needs (i.e., audiobooks for the blind)

METRICS

Instagram

Through the use of Instagram, Read the Benefits would track the use of its hashtag (#ReadTheBenefits), as well as any insight having a business profile would provide. Additionally, the platform would be used to produce engagement through Instagram story polls.

Twitter

Twitter would be used in a similar fashion to Instagram in ensuring that Read the Benefits is reaching the proper audience by measuring insights (i.e., link clicks). The use of the hashtag would also be tracked with the goal to have it trend.

TikTok

Used in conjunction with the hashtag #BookTok, TikTok would enable Read the Benefits to interact with younger audiences on a larger scale through the use of video messages and PSAs. To ensure success, the number of views, likes and followers would be tracked.

TikTok

With the same handle as Instagram, the TikTok page would benefit the campaign by allowing creators to make videos and connect with #BookTok. Additionally, it would reach some of the youngest audience targets.

Twitter

Once again using the same @readthebenefits handle, Twitter would also help the campaign in reaching as many people as possible. Twitter also has the helpful addition of being able to create surveys on the platform.
